 IAS Preliminary Exam

The civil services examination for the IAS Preliminary, consist of the 2 papers i.e. Paper 1 and Paper 2 in which Paper- 1 used to cover the subjects like History of India and Indian national movement Indian and world geography, Indian politics and governance, Current events of national and international importance and Economic and social development Ecology. Whereas Paper- 2 includes subjects like Comprehension, Logical reasoning and analytical ability, Interpersonal skills including communication skills, General mental ability, English language comprehension skills and Basic numeracy (numbers and their relations, orders of magnitude, etc.

IAS Main Exam

The IAS Syllabus 2017 fort the main exam includes 2 paper i.e. paper A and paper B in which Paper A, has 2 parts, in which 1^st part has “Any Indian Language” subject, in which the candidate need to select the one language form the Eighth Schedule of Constitution and the 2^nd part consist of the English subject, which has Comprehension of given passages, Precis Writing, Usage and Vocabulary etc. Whereas Paper B has 7 parts, which consist of the Subjects such as Essay, General Studies 1, 2, 3 and 4 along with the Optional 1 (Of your choice)/ Optional 2 (Of your choice) which includes topics such as Botany, Economics, General Studies, Geography, Management, Philosophy, Public Administration etc.

Preliminary Exam Pattern

In the IAS Prelims Exam, the candidate needs to face the objective (MCQ) type questions of two different papers which are discussed above in the IAS Syllabus 2017. Both of these papers will be of 200 marks each and candidate needs to finish the 1 paper in the time duration of 2 hours.

Main Exam Pattern

The Main Exam of the Indian Civil Services will be having 7 papers in which Paper 1^st and 2^nd will be of 300 marks each and rest of the exams will be of 250 marks each. Note that the candidate who will qualify all the exams will at the end need to face the Interview test which will be of 275 marks.
